Domestic Violence Awareness Raising

Attorney Carlos E Sandoval delves into the delicate issue of domestic violence. He tells us that “Just because you are an undocumented person does not mean you should allow abuse,” let alone domestic violence by your partner, parents or children.

Examples of Domestic Violence:

Physical Abuse

Emotional Abuse

  • Called you demeaning or degrading names, Treated you like a domestic servant, Denied you access to money, checkbook and/or credit cards, Tried to control your daily activities such as where you go, what you do and who your friends are, Isolated you from family and friends, Threatened to harm you, Threatened to kill you, Threatened to kill you, Threatened to harm you, Threatened to kill you, Threatened to kill you, Threatened to kill you, Threatened to kill you, Threatened to kill you, Threatened to harm you, Threatened to kill you, Threatened to kill you, Threatened to kill you, Has he threatened to harm or kill a family member, Has he threatened to harm or kill the family pet, Has he driven dangerously while you were in the car knowing that it caused you fear, Has he threatened to run away with the children, Has he threatened to commit suicide or made a suicide attempt, Have you received treatment for a mental condition, Have you received treatment for a mental condition, Has he threatened to commit suicide or made an attempt to commit suicide, Have you received treatment for a mental condition, Have you received treatment for a mental condition, Have you received treatment for a mental condition, Have you received treatment for a mental condition, Have you received treatment for a mental condition, Have you received treatment for a mental condition, Have you received treatment for a mental condition?
  • Refusing to produce immigration documents, threatening to withdraw from immigration proceedings or threatening to involve authorities (call ICE)?

2. Seek the advice of an experienced attorney as you may qualify for various existing processes for people who have suffered some type of abuse, such as VAWA, U visa, and/or T visa.
