President Biden promotes Naturalization
President Biden entered an executive order to promote Naturalization and directed the various agencies in charge to remove the obstacles associated with this process and restore the legal immigration process. They must respond with a plan outlining the steps to be taken within 90 days of entering this order. Specific items for improvement include:
1. Removing barriers and improving the current process: including a complete review of the application, fingerprinting, civics exam, and criminal background check.
2. Substantially reduce processing times
3. Make the process more affordable by possibly reducing the application fee or restoring the fee waiver.
4. Facilitate citizenship for those born abroad or members of the armed forces.
Revision of policies and practices for revoking citizenship or passports.
